我們不是從「想做一顆包」開始。我們是從一個很小、但每天都會發生的挫折開始:

找東西。

在城市裡,你可能在月台邊、在車廂門口、在捷運閘門前——單手拿手機、另一手拉拉鍊,包裡卻像黑洞:線材、護照、相機電池、鑰匙、雨衣、手套……你知道它們都在,但你得「翻」。翻到東西出來、節奏亂掉、心情也跟著亂掉。我們後來發現:這件事之所以惱人,並不是你不夠有條理。而是很多包,從一開始就不是為「快速就位」而設計的。

一個設計師,先看見了問題

DR.WILDS 荒野醫生,是台灣原創品牌,成立於 2018 年;擁有自有工廠與設計團隊,承襲 20 多年製包工藝。主理人兼設計師 ChenWing,曾在旅行箱品牌擔任設計總監;那段時間他每天面對的是大型設備與嚴謹製程,也讓他更確定自己的設計信念:
功能要被清楚地看見、也要被更直接地使用。
後來在研發「裝電腦或相機」的背包時,他們把市場翻了一遍,發現多數產品不是「千篇一律」,就是「笨重體積太大/造型過於死板」,而合適又有型的選擇,往往是昂貴的國外品牌。於是問題回到原點:能不能做一個,讓人不必翻找、打開就能工作(或出走)的攜帶系統?

 

我們回頭去找一個「本來就為快速而生」的結構答案不在更複雜的隔層,而在一個更古老的概念裡:【醫生包】

 

在二戰時期,軍醫需要帶著大量工具在戰場間移動;筒狀波士頓包放進工具後容易混亂,公事包又太扁不適合。於是「醫生包」誕生——它最關鍵的特徵,是定型的大開口:袋口內有金屬定型鋼片,能讓包完全展開,醫生可以一眼看見所有工具、快速拿取。這段歷史讓 DR.WILDS 突然明白:醫生包之所以經典,不是因為外型,而是因為它背後的邏輯——把醫生的「快速救援」,變成使用者的「快速就位」。但傳統醫生包也有它的限制:多為牛皮、重量高、長時間攜帶不便;加上常見背負方式以手提或單肩為主,放進現代城市生活並不實用。所以他們問了一句很直白的話:「為什麼不把它改得更好用?」接下來,是長達三年的發想、打樣、試背——把「過重與用途少」這兩個老問題,重新解掉,並發展出「荒野醫生包-矩形旅袋」等系列。

城市、騎旅、露營:我們把三個場景畫在同一張地圖上

多數品牌會選一條路走到底:要嘛更專業戶外、要嘛更城市機能。DR.WILDS 的選擇不太一樣——我們從一開始就把需求拆成三個「真實會遇到的場景」:

城市:快進快出、通勤節奏、手忙時也要順手。
騎旅:天候、路況、震動、雨,裝備要穩、要快。
露營:營地不是家,但你需要像家一樣的秩序;打開就要知道東西在哪。

 

所以你現在看到的「從城市到荒野,一秒展開的行動工作站」,其實不是一句口號。它是把醫生包的大開口邏輯,延伸成一套現代人的「行動基地」:

展開=工作台:不是翻找,是把整套裝備攤在眼前

收起=出走:離開車站、離開城市、離開日常,都不需要重新整理一次人生

這段路,還在走

DR.WILDS 的作品,也走上不同市場的驗證:官網列出曾在台灣嘖嘖、日本 Makuake / Kibidango、以及美國 Kickstarter 等平台出現。但比起「走到哪裡」,他們更在意「走成什麼樣子」:
讓每一次打開包,都像把生活重新排好;
讓每一次出走,都更接近自由。

is an outdoor gear brand from Taiwan.

We didn’t start with “let’s make a bag.”
We started with a small frustration that happens every single day:

finding things.

In the city, you might be on the platform, at the train door, or in front of the metro gate—phone in one hand, zipper in the other—yet your bag feels like a black hole: cables, passport, camera batteries, keys, rain jacket, gloves… You know they’re in there, but you still have to dig. And once you start digging, your rhythm breaks—and so does your mood.

Later we realized: it’s not that you’re disorganized.
It’s that many bags were never designed for rapid deployment in the first place.

 

A designer saw the problem first

DR.WILDS is an original brand from Taiwan, founded in 2018. With our own factory and in-house design team, we build on more than 20 years of bag-making craftsmanship.

Founder and lead designer ChenWing previously served as a design director at a luggage brand. Working daily with large-scale equipment and strict production standards reinforced his design belief:
function should be clearly visible—and even more directly usable.

Later, while developing backpacks for carrying laptops and cameras, we surveyed the market and found that most products were either “all the same,” or “bulky, oversized, and rigid-looking.” Stylish, well-designed choices often came only from expensive overseas brands.

So the question returned to the beginning:
Could we create a carrying system where you don’t have to rummage—where you can open it and work (or escape) immediately?

 

We looked back to a structure born for speed

We went searching for a design that was made for fast action. The answer wasn’t in more complicated compartments, but in an older concept: the doctor’s bag.

During World War II, military doctors had to move across battlefields with a large set of tools. Cylinder-shaped duffels became messy once filled, while briefcases were too flat and impractical. That’s how the doctor’s bag emerged—defined by its most important feature: a reinforced wide opening. A metal frame inside the mouth allows the bag to open fully, so doctors can see every tool at a glance and grab what they need fast.

That history made DR.WILDS realize something clearly:
the doctor’s bag is iconic not because of its shape, but because of the logic behind it—
turning a doctor’s rapid rescue into the user’s rapid deployment.

But traditional doctor’s bags also have limits: often made of heavy leather, uncomfortable for long carry, and typically designed for hand-carry or single-shoulder use—less practical for modern city life.

So we asked a simple, direct question:
“Why not make it more usable?”

What followed were three years of ideation, prototyping, and real-world testing—solving the old problems of “too heavy” and “too limited,” and developing series such as the Wilderness Doctor Bag – Rectangular Travel Bag.

 

City, moto travel, camping: three worlds on one map

Most brands choose one path and go all in: either ultra-professional outdoor gear, or strictly urban functionality.

DR.WILDS chose a different approach. From the beginning, we broke real needs into three situations people actually face:

  • City: quick in-and-out commuting; easy access even when your hands are full.

  • Moto travel: weather, road conditions, vibration, and rain—gear must be stable and fast to access.

  • Camping: the campsite isn’t home, but you still need home-like order; once opened, you should know exactly where everything is.

So “From City to Wilderness: A One-Second Action Workstation” isn’t just a slogan.
It’s the doctor’s bag’s wide-opening logic expanded into a modern mobile base:

Open = a workstation: not rummaging, but laying your full setup out in front of you.
Close = departure: leaving the station, the city, the routine—without reorganizing your life all over again.

 

The journey continues

DR.WILDS products have also been validated across different markets—the official site lists appearances on platforms such as Zeczec (Taiwan), Makuake / Kibidango (Japan), and Kickstarter (USA).

But more than “how far we’ve gone,” we care about “how we go”:
making every time you open your bag feel like putting life back in order;
making every escape feel a little closer to freedom.

ChenWing 為 DR.WILDS 主理人兼設計師,生於1983年台灣,畢業於復興美工,後赴中國大陸擔任旅行箱品牌設計總監,期間受到旅行箱龐大設備與繁複嚴謹製程啟發,將功能展現作為設計主軸融入產品理念中,著重將最初所需的功能以及材料用更簡單且直接的方式呈現,同時對於時代感強烈的物品更是情有獨鍾,復古的時間感與率性的功能感為設計的核心元素,將設計回歸最基礎功能面,捨棄繁複造型並保留未完成的狀態,讓產品能回歸更純粹的使用體驗。

ChenWing is the founder and designer of DR.WILDS. Born in Taiwan in 1983, he graduated from the Advertising Design Department of Fuxing Art School. Later, he moved to China to serve as the design director for a travel luggage brand. During this period, he was inspired by the extensive equipment and complex, meticulous processes involved in travel luggage, incorporating functional display as the core of his product design philosophy. He emphasizes presenting essential functions and materials in a simpler and more direct manner. ChenWing has a particular fondness for items with a strong sense of the times, with vintage time aesthetics and straightforward functionality as the core elements of his design. His designs return to basic functional aspects, discarding complex shapes while retaining an unfinished state to provide a purer user experience.
